SAP Fiori in the HCM Environment
With the new user interface SAP creates applications that are optimized primarily for mobile use. SAP Fiori brings many advantages especially in the HR area. ESS/MSS have become more intuitively usable thanks to Fiori which leads to a higher increase in the efficiency of processes.
SAP Fiori is the user interface technology of the future: based on SAPUI5 and HTML5, can be used regardless of location and device, which makes it more flexible.
What advantages does SAP Fiori create (in the HCM environment)?
- Mobile usability due to the responsive app design – also creates higher acceptance among employees
- Intuitive usability – less training time
- Role-based and personalized user interface – each employee has the access he or she needs
- Future-proof investment, as SAP Fiori is the SAP standard and new features are launched on a regular basis
- Individual processes can be mapped through app developments by SAP service providers
What are the reasons against using SAP Fiori for SAP HCM?
We always advise you honestly and would therefore like to show you that SAP Fiori in the area of SAP HCM does not make unrestricted sense for every company.
For complex process applications, for example, we would rather recommend HR Renewal, since shorter development times are given here by pulling WDA BAdIs.
In-house know-how is often not available due to the use of a new interface technology. However, we are happy to be your support partner and implement your SAP Fiori apps with you.
What are the prerequisites?
Even though it may seem so, but a prior migration to SAP S/4HANA is not necessary. All you need to benefit from SAP Fiori is a current ERP system (ERP 6.0 and higher).
You should be aware of these SAP Fiori apps in SAP HCM:
The following standard apps are available in SAP HCM:
- Employee profile and search
- Employer benefits
- Submit and approve absence requests
- Pay statements
- Make clock-in/clock-out corrections
- Release and approve time entries
Is SAP Fiori better in the cloud or as an on-premise solution?
One big difference here is the implementation period, which is longer for on-premise solutions than for use in the cloud. Updates and maintenance costs are eliminated in the cloud version and are carried out automatically. This means that you are always up to date with the latest system status. However, one disadvantage of the cloud version is that the range of available apps is still not as diverse as with the on-premise solution.
We recommend adopting the cloud solution if you are using Cloud on HANA. Again, we recommend implementing the on-premise solution if you are currently relying on on-premise in the area of ESS/MSS.
Would you also like to map your individual processes in SAP Fiori Apps and benefit from the new user interface? Our development department will be happy to advise you here and implement your individual app wishes.
